Circassian - Darling Clandestine

Details:
Circassian
Darling Clandestine

Notes:
Carefully blended and infused by me in small batches in vintage green glass wine bottles, this is a warm chocolaty fragrance with intriguing notes of amber and blossoms. A dozen different scent elements and several days of methodical alchemy make Circassian no ordinary scented oil mix—it's a truly inimitable fragrance.

It's weird that the label of this has nothing written on it. I received it from Su, so I don't know whether there was maybe a tag attached that has been removed or what. It would be confusing if you bought a whole bunch of them, though.

In the bottle I smell chocolate and coffee, a deeper version of Haus of Gloi's Vice. Once it's applied the chocolate recedes and the coffee really comes out strong. There is also a note in there of something a little sharp and green, and something slightly floral. The dry down is a chocolate floral with a dab of amber  sweetening it up. On paper, this is my jam, but there is something there I don't like, and I cannot put my finger on what it is. It wasn't a scrubber on me, it was just.... not what I would have expected.

Day 28!

  1. DC vials don't have labels with names of the perfumes. I bought 6 and I had to look for matching pictures on etsy store to find out what exactly I'm smelling. Really strange!

    1. Oh. Well, I'm lazy so I find that annoying!

  2. I still want to try DC, though I don't think I'd want this particular blend. I love coffee in the wee hours of the morning, but I don't know if I would love smelling like coffee. ;)

    1. I have one other one Su sent me that I haven't tried yet, and I have a wish list of others I want to get to at some point. Though her store hasn't been stocked up much of late - most of the ones I want to check out are not currently listed.

  3. Yeah, what Su said... My solids have no names on them either, when I think about it. Haven´t been a problem though as the lables are all really unique. And the lable artwork is really pretty!

I haven´t tried this one, neither was I planning to. Chocolate isn´t really my thing... I have Vardogr, Big Top Train 2010, Step Right Up, Fisticuffs, Gram Negative and Aragon, and they are all nice, some more than others!

    1. Big Top Train 2010... is that some kind of circus smell?

    2. Oh, sorry I missed this question of yours! Yeah, Big Top Train was a Christmas at the circus/carnival sort of scent but it is discontinued now I think...

  4. I think the whole picture label thing is kind of neat..a bit of a brain exercise to try to associate the scents with pictures rather than names. I am quite fond of Vardogr and Inked and Curiosities' Ball and some others, not sure if I would like this. Chocolate is so tricky for me, I think I prefer them as wash-off products. Except SS's Black Forest, that one is brilliant!

    1. I've not heard of Black Forest - I assume it was LE? :-(

    2. Oh no, it was so popular last V Day that Angela made is GC. I'm guessing she will restock all the products it's available in for this year. It's one of the dual concept scents- Black Forest like the cake, so foodie, and Black Forest like the forest, so woodsy and incensey. It's on my full size list :)

    3. Oh wow, how did I miss that one! That's definitely going in the next order, I just read the description and it sounds AMAZING.

  5. Even thought I love the concept of having a picture instead of a name. I think that it would be confusing for me...

    1. Me too, and I have to admit, I can't be bothered having to go and look things up, lol.

  6. I've wanted to love Darling Clandestine because she is such a sweet seller. But like The Mindful Mushroom, this shop also has too many perfumes that just either smell all alike on the dry down or are just uninteresting. A few samples I have smell great in bottle. Generous samples to be sure, but nothing that makes me go...YES!

    1. I have found her shop is not well-stocked either. Every time I've had a look at it wanting to buy something, I can't find the things I want. :-/
