Rose Mallow Cream - Solstice Scents

Details:
Rose Mallow Cream
Valentine's Collection (2013)
Solstice Scents

Notes:
Moroccan Rose absolute, Bulgarian Rose absolute, Marshmallow Fluff, Strawberry Nectar, White Chocolate, Vanilla, White Musk.

Years ago my favourite perfume was MOR Marshmallow. I ploughed through a 100ml bottle of the stuff in a few months, then went and bought another bottle. I was about one third of the way through it, and suddenly decided I could not stand it anymore. I gave the rest of it to Noodles, and she still has it several years later. Every now and then when she and I are talking perfumes I smell it again, and I still can't stand it. It seems so cloying and sickly to me now, and yet there was a time when it was the one I would have immediately chosen if I were stranded on a desert island and could only have one perfume with me.

Rose Mallow Cream to me is a far less sickly, far more palatable version of MOR Marshmallow. It's not exactly the same, but it's similar enough that as soon as I smelled it, that's the first thing I thought of. In the bottle and when first applied it's a sweet, candy-like rose. The description on Solstice Scents' site mentions that the sillage is low, but on me it was quite high and I didn't apply all that much. Maybe it's just amping on me because of the rose. The middle is marshmallow vanilla, with the rose still there, but the strawberry makes it more foody than floral. The dry down is vanilla and white musk, very pretty and feminine. It lasted a fair while on me - at least 5 hours. If you're interested in more detailed reviews of Rose Mallow Cream, check out Liber Vix and More Tea, Wesley? for their opinions.

Alize - Enchanticals Perfume

Details:
Alize
Enchanticals Perfume

Notes:
White Chocolate covered Raspberries and Cream!

In the vial this smells of milk chocolate, which is slightly odd as the notes state that it's white chocolate. On the skin it's chocolate and raspberry, with the berry dominating and making it more tart and fruity than other chocolate berry perfumes I have. There's a 'perfumy' note in there too, something I can't quite put my finger on, but it makes this scent not quite as foodie as I'd expect. Several hours later it's mostly chocolate, with the berry dying down a bit. Sillage is low to medium, but the longevity is good - I could still smell it after 6 hours.

Almond Milk - Firebird Bath and Body

Details:
Almond Milk
Firebird Bath and Body (formerly Flourish Bath and Body)

Notes:
Soft, sensual, intoxicating: almond, vanilla, musk, a wisp of white chocolate. This fragrance manages to be both a soothing comfort scent and incredibly sexy at the same time (try it- you'll see what I mean). Sugary perfume haters need not apply, but lovers of all things sweet and gourmand- I think you'll enjoy this one quite a bit.

Oh, Almond Milk. What can I say about you that does you justice? This is pretty much my all time favourite perfume. I have also bought it for my mum, who is definitely not a perfume person (I think she might have had the same bottle of Tweed for about 15 years when I was a kid), and she loves it. It’s not a complex blend, but it’s warm, comforting, and I have never smelled anything else exactly like it.

In the bottle it smells like marzipan, not a scent I’m overly fond of. Once applied, the almond retreats – this is an almond perfume for people who don’t like almond. It’s a vanilla for people who don’t like vanilla. White chocolate for people who don’t like chocolate. Musk for people who don’t like musk. I’m not kidding. It smells of all these things, and yet it doesn’t.

I have always thought that this perfume perfectly captures the essence of ‘baby head’ smell. It doesn’t exactly smell like a baby’s head, but it’s that same perfect, compulsively sniffable feeling you get when you hold a baby. Or when I do at any rate.

I can’t rave highly enough about this perfume. If you don’t like gourmands at all, or feminine scents at all (though I think a man could easily pull this off and smell amazing), it’s not for you. But for everyone else, get in there. It’s about to be discontinued, and I’ve ordered a back up bottle and seriously considering grabbing a couple more while I can.

Nightgown - Solstice Scents

Details:
Nightgown
Valentine's 2012 Collection (now made permanent)
Solstice Scents

Notes:
Vanilla, white chocolate, tuberose, tiare flowers.

Floral haters look away now! In the vial this is a pretty white floral, but doesn't smell like anything different to any number of other pretty white florals (and I have a lot of those). On the skin it comes alive. A gorgeous creamy, lush tuberose and tropical tiare flower. Oh man, I cannot stop sniffing my wrists!

Nightgown doesn't really change that much on the dry down, though the vanilla and white chocolate make the florals super creamy. Sillage is quite low for a white floral, a minor disappointment because I want everyone around to know how FABULOUS I smell in this. It did last a good few hours though, so that gave me plenty of time through the day to creepily sniff myself.

Rating:
5/5 I adore this. I will definitely be buying a full bottle, and probably whatever else I can get in this scent. If you like white florals at all this is a MUST TRY.
