Lila - Wiggle Perfume

First sniff:
Lilacs - very floral, very perfumey

First applied:
Yep, still lilacs - this is a super feminine floral, quite potent. There's a green note in there too but it's delicate, the flower takes centre stage. Old ladyish but in a good way.

First 30 mins:

Considering how potent this is when first applied it fades pretty quickly. I applied this to my wrists, behind the ears and in the cleavage (the warm spot - shut up, you know it's true) and I can only smell it now if I get close to my wrist and sniff. Not sure if it's a natural perfume - those tend to fade on me in minutes - but it's a shame that something so pretty is so fleeting.

After 3 hours:

Almost entirely gone. If I press my nose to my wrist I can just barely catch the last remnants of it.

Longevity:
Maybe 2-3 hours.

Actual notes/description:
Okay, so you may have noticed that I've been adding a bit of lilac to everything this spring. I found an amazingly true lilac scent and I've become completely obsessed. I love the summery promise of lilacs, but I wanted to give it a different twist. I read somewhere that the name Lila means "night", and combining that information with its use in a wonderfully dreamy Morphine song, I felt inspired to create a deeply dark romantic lilac scent. Lila combines a rich and retro-fabulous lilac note with an inky black musk, touches of vanilla and black tea, dusky black rose, and a healthy kick of black pepper.

Garden Gate - Solstice Scents

Details:
Garden Gate
Spring Collection 2011
Solstice Scents

Notes:
Voluptuous Lilac blossoms in the foreground combine with faint traces of cascading wisteria and subtle, fresh, green grass notes. Contains a blend of fragrance oils and African Bluegrass EO to creat a sweet, creamy and gorgeous floral. The dry down is an intensely beautiful and very wearable floral that smells true to the light purple flowers that inspired it.

This perfume is similar to several other 'cottage garden' ones I have, which is why I never bothered buying a full size. The lilac is most prominent on first sniff - that's pretty much all I get. It doesn't really change any until the dry down, and that's when the wisteria and the 'green' show up. It's lovely if you like garden florals (and I do very much). There's really not a lot more to say about it. Sillage and longevity are both on the low-ish side. I could still smell it after 3 hours, but it was extremely faint.

Lilac Dreams - The Garden Bath

Details:
Lilac Dreams
Flower Garden Collection
The Garden Bath

Notes:
The most realistic lilac you'll ever find - not perfumey at all. If you just close your eyes, you'll feel like you're surrounded by blooming lilac bushes with butterflies flitting from flower to flower.

This perfume is exactly what it claims to be - a very simple, almost single note floral. I don't really have a lot more to say about it. Generally I am a fan of The Garden Bath (whose scents do tend to be fairly simple, and that's not a bad thing), and have been for a long time, but this one - while pretty enough - just didn't do much for me at all. It's very reminiscent of a Yardley perfume - you know those ones like Roses, Lily of the Valley, etc? I like Yardley perfumes quite a lot (it's the daggy old lady in me), but I don't own any because I would just never wear them - although weirdly I do own The Garden Bath's Fresh Roses and I love it. I think Lilac Dreams would make a nice soap or lotion, or even a home fragrance, but as a perfume it doesn't grab me.

Rating:
2/5 Pleasant, but nothing exciting.
