Coco Violette - Deep Midnight
Details:
Coco Violette
Deep Midnight Perfumes
Notes:
Reminiscent of old fashioned violet candies and sweet childhood memories. This is a wonderful scent for grown up ladies too! Old fashioned violet, milk chocolate, and a hint of creamy vanilla.
In the vial this is a chocolate floral with a sharpish green note. Once applied it's violets and that green note still hovering. The chocolate is very much in the background on the skin, although it comes back again in the dry down, which is a chocolate floral sweetened by the vanilla. Like some of the other Deep Midnight scents I've tried, that odd synthetic note is there, and I'm not keen on it. I wanted to like this, as it's my kind of thing, but... no, it's not happening. Sillage is lowish - it's not super close to the skin but doesn't have a lot of throw. Longevity is medium, it disappeared pretty much entirely in about 6 hours.

Day 33!
This sounds like something I would hate, and synthetic too... nah, definitely not my thing!
ReplyDeleteI think it might be their vanilla note. I've found the ones so far that don't have vanilla in them are fine. Weird.
DeleteAww, I'm sorry this didn't work for you. It's always disappointing when you buy a perfume or perfume sample you think you'll love, and it doesn't work. Good thing there are a lot of other perfumes out there! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm pretty philosophical about perfume samples. I figure if I buy 10 and love 2 I'm doing okay. I'm more annoyed when I buy a full size unsniffed and don't like it, which is why I don't do that very often. ;-)
DeleteOh no :( I would have fallen for cocoa and violet in the description too. I think there is nothing worse than synthetic vanilla and nothing more awesome than true vanilla.
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteHave this one and I don't smell sharp green notes you mentioned. I do love the cocoa and vanilla in this and I don't smell the synthetic, but I am not a fan of violet in general, so I don't really wear this sample.
