Black Lace - Black Baccara
Details:
Black Lace
Black Baccara
Notes:
Dangerously sexy, Black Lace is a unique and incredibly seductive blend. It has a heavenly backdrop of vanilla which dances with amber, tobacco and cinnamon. Timeless and captivating, this blend stands out for it’s vanilla augmentations; a vanilla which is more seductive than it is sweet, more sexy than confectionary.
In the vial I smell vanilla, but as the notes description says, it's not a sugary sweet kind, more of a deep, warm vanilla. Once I applied this I could not stop sniffing - it's delicious.
Once it dries down it deepens (the amber, thankfully not jumping out and going nuts but staying well in the background), but it doesn't change all that much. I can't smell the cinnamon, there's just a warm, slightly sweet spiciness to the vanilla.
There is, however, one problem I have with this perfume:
See that redness? It's hella itchy. I assume it's the cinnamon, though that's odd because I'm not normally sensitive to perfume ingredients or really much of anything, and I have no allergies that I know of (other than hay fever kind of things). I thought (hoped) maybe it was something else, but I tried Black Lace again on the other wrist and it did the same thing. So sadly, as much as I love the smell, this is not meant to be. :-(
Rating:
4/5 High score for the fragrance - a lovely warm, grown up vanilla.
Day 20!

Ohh this description sounds amazing, I'd be happy to buy this off you since it doesn't agree with your skin, if you'd like? I know you aren't an amber fan but I want to get some more amber fragrances, and vanilla is definitely my thing. I love the vanilla vials you sent me a few years back, they seem sexy vanillas to me haha so I should like this one :)
ReplyDeleteHi Emma! I would have happily given it away but I decided to use it in an oil burner and see if that does anything. At least that way I could enjoy the scent. :-)
Deleteoh no! Such a shame you can't enjoy it :( One of the Chaos Theory scents from BPAL does the same to me. It is a very spicy perfume. Thankfully I don't like it that much.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bummer. I have a scent locket somewhere, might try that out.
DeleteHaha! A scent I have actually tried! I still have it in a vial somewhere... I like it, but find it a bit boring.
ReplyDeleteI don´t think I had the redness problem with this scent, but I have reacted to cinnamon in others... Just a passing redness and no itch in my case, and I do love cinnamon so I still use those!
There's definitely no compexity to it. I'm a sucker for warm vanillas though. :-)
DeleteThat scent sounds just up my alley, but alas, I too, am sensitive to cinnamon oil. What a bummer for you :(
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I'm going to dig out my scent locket and see if that is any better.
Deleteyes, it's the cinnamon! And too bad as I love cinnamon notes too...not all do that though.
ReplyDeleteIt might actually be the fact that Black Baccara use 'fragrance oil' as well as essential oil - fragrance oils are synthetic, so may be the culprit!
